A course combining a short two hour theory session with an afternoon practical shooting that looks at many aspects of starting shooting portraits. We look at shooting with both available light, with and without reflectors and the use of dedicated Canon EOS flash both indoors and out.
We look at how reflectors can be used to make the most of the available light and where fill in flash can offer benefits. One of the challenges to shooting portraits with fill in flash is understanding the correct mode to shoot in. We take a look at framing and composition in addition to lens usage to make the most of the location that you are shooting in.
Please note that this seminar does not look at studio portraits using studio flash. The group size is just 14 and we have two lecturers available throughout the day to provide help and assistance where necessary.
Any EOS camera with lenses that cover both wide angle and telephoto focal lengths, plus a Canon flash (must be EX range).
| • | Understanding lighting for portraits | • | Flash use and camera modes |

| • | Using reflectors | • | Framing portraits |
| • | Why flash is sometimes needed | • | Useful overrides for fill in flash |
Delegates get the most benefit from the practical seminars if they have undertaken the core “understanding” courses in our seminar programme as we do not have time on these events to cover in detail the settings on individual models.
Please note that although we will have equipment with us that you can try, you must have your own equipment to use as it is for everyone to share, not for one person to have all day.
