Practical Photo Experience Events

How to book

The best way to book a place on one of our events is by phone, this allows you to check space availability on the event of your choice. Bookings can also be made by email, or post.

If booking by email, please note that we do not have a secure connection so please do not put credit card details on the email — we will contact you by phone to arrange payment of your deposit. Once this is received, we can then confirm your booking.

All of our events have quite small numbers at each event and so we advise booking early to secure the date and venue of your choice.

Our Practical Photo Experience program provides practical photography instruction on almost a one to one basis. With a maximum of four delegates to a lecturer we are able to provide an individual learning environment and react to the needs of each delegate.

Our Practical Photo Experiences are held at a variety of different locations around the UK, each specialising in a different facet of photography. We can also supply a certain amount of specialist equipment on each day to help with your photography if needed.

The events are designed to get you familiar with the features and techniques that you need to be proficient with, in the area of photography that we are looking at on that specific event.

You will benefit the most from the day if you are familiar with the basics of the photography that we cover in our foundation events and are reasonably familiar with all the controls on your camera — from our past experience we do not recommend that total novices attend these events before attending one of our understanding level courses as it is unfair to the other delegates to have to cover basics that are not specifically included in the event.

Lowlight photography practical seminar
Creating great images when the light levels are low is not easy. One of the major problems is recognising that what your camera sees, especially in lowlight, is significantly different from what our eyes see.

Using flash for macro practical seminar
Macro photography can benefit greatly from the use of flash. The closer you get the more difficult it is to get light on the subject and on this course, usually held at butterfly houses, we demonstrate different flash techniques from the built in gun, external guns and macro flash through to using multiple flashguns for stunning results.
