How to book

The best way to book a place on one of our events is by phone, this allows you to check space availability on the event of your choice. Bookings can also be made by email, or post.

If booking by email, please note that we do not have a secure connection so please do not put credit card details on the email — we will contact you by phone to arrange payment of your deposit. Once this is received, we can then confirm your booking.

All of our events have quite small numbers at each event and so we advise booking early to secure the date and venue of your choice.

As you get closer to a subject, especially in nature, a whole new world of images opens up for you and this can be a very rewarding area of photography. However, as you get closer so you have more things to control such as depth of field and especially lighting.

This event looks at the aspects that need to be understood to get successful images within the close-up, macro and micro field.

Much of our macro and micro photography is lit by flash and we cover fully the techniques you need to use including the use of multiple flashguns using the Canon wireless flash system

Intermediate level (3) The intermediate level courses are designed to build on the knowledge learnt on the foundation events and go in depth into the overrides settings on your camera. The will not cover the basics such as mode usage and basic photographic skills such as correct aperture, ISO, shutter speed selection or depth of field as these are fully covered on our Level 1 and 2 events. As well as the camera courses we have a number of technique courses and practical events where you can put into practice the skills you have learnt on earlier courses. Delegates get the most benefit from the How to series of courses if they have undertaken the core “understanding” courses in our seminar programme as we do not have time on these events to cover in detail the settings on individual models. A classroom based event suitable for people of all mobility levels. If you do have a mobility problem please do tell us at the time of booking so we can ensure that an appropriate function room is booked.
