Understanding your digital EOS - part 1 - The basics

How to book

The best way to book a place on one of our events is by phone, this allows you to check space availability on the event of your choice. Bookings can also be made by email, or post.

If booking by email, please note that we do not have a secure connection so please do not put credit card details on the email — we will contact you by phone to arrange payment of your deposit. Once this is received, we can then confirm your booking.

All of our events have quite small numbers at each event and so we advise booking early to secure the date and venue of your choice.

The first in a series of courses designed to help you understand your digital EOS. Understanding your Digital EOS part 1 is designed to give you a good familiarity with the camera’s modes and some of the key overrides that solve many of the difficulties that are commonly experienced, such as focusing and exposure issues. The course also looks at some of the photographic essentials that you need to be fully familiar with to fully utilise these sophisticated models such as ISO utilisation, AWB understanding and preset overrides and relationships between aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings. We also look at how depth of field is best controlled and how to ensure that you do not get camera shake when hand holding.

Key topics covered

Knowledge requirement Activity level
Level 2 — Foundation level The foundation level courses are where we recommend that most photographers ideally start. This is especially the case if you are “self taught”, as many people know the terminology relating to digital photography but are not entirely sure how it relates to the images they are trying to produce or how exactly they should apply the settings to their camera. Our foundation courses are far from basic and they cover all the key features of photography and key settings on the camera that need to be mastered and understood fully, as all the subsequent courses are based on the assumption that you have these basics fully understood. A classroom based event suitable for people of all mobility levels. If you do have a mobility problem please do tell us at the time of booking so we can ensure that an appropriate room is booked.
